It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Patricia Coughlin of Middle Haddam, Connecticut, who passed away on June 22, 2025, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Bernard J. Coughlin; her parents, Thomas J. Sweeney and Catherine Byrne Sweeney; her great-grandparents, Gigi (Liam Blaszczyk), Alana Blaszczyk (Harlan Bartlett), Fiona Bartlett, Ronin Bartlett, Reese Penney (Evan Penney), Nar Scaia, Josephine Scaia (Oliver Gotta) and Stella Gotta (Daniel Prince); her siblings, Thomas Sweeney Jr., James Sweeney, Eugene Sweeney, Joseph Sweeney, Katherine Crowley, Mary Hawley, Margaret McCarthy, Helen Gleason, Rita Coughlin and Winifred Flannery; and her granddaughter Kelly Coughlin.
She is survived by: her children, Bernice C. Bartlett (James) of Middle Haddam, Alicia C. Penney (Daniel) of Middletown, Eileen C. Gotta (Charles) of Middle Haddam, Sheila C. Daniels (Robert) of Middletown and Bernard J. Coughlin, Jr. (Lori) of Middle Haddam; her grandchildren, Katherine Bartlett Blaszczyk, James Bartlett, Brian Penney, Meaghan Penney Scaia, Robert Gotta, Nicholas Gotta, Molly Daniels, Jessie Daniels Prince, Kyle Coughlin and Leah Coughlin; and her daughters, Rita C. Gibbons, Denise C. Painter, Anne C. McKinney and Catherine C. Holmes. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Spencer Funeral Home (112 Main St, East Hampton, CT 06424). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 27th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Patrick Church (47 W High St, East Hampton, CT 06424).
