He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Maria Margarida Soares; his daughters, Sandra Fernandes (Nelson) of Naugatuck and Jennifer Soares of Naugatuck; his granddaughter Aubrey Fernandes; and his siblings, Joaquim Soares (Lola), Carlos Soares, Jose Soares (Maria), Pompeu Soares (Margarida), Clara Sousa (Artur), Amelia Barros (Jose), Elsa Cabral (Silverio) and Ana Maria Carvalho (Antonio). He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
