Debarros (Naugatuck, Connecticut), born in Waterbury, Connecticut, who passed away on November 22, 2018, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Loving Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother" Tereza (Vieira) DeBarros, 88, of Naugatuck and formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Beacon Book Health Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose DeBarros, Sr. Tereza was born in Fogo, Cape Verde Island on November 26, 1929, daughter of the late Joaquim and Maria (Gomes) Vieira. She came to the United States in 1948 and moved to Waterbury in 1958 to raise her family. She worked as a seamstress for many years for Elegant Fashions and PM Sportswear before her retirement. She was a parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Tereza leaves four sons, Jose DeBarros, Jr. and his wife, Melita of Meriden, CT, John DeBarros and his wife, Rebecca of Paradise Valley, AZ, Manuel DeBarros and his wife, Carla of Brea, CA, Joaquim DeBarros and his wife, Maryjane of New Milford, CT, one daughter, Anna Tereza DeBarros Garrity and her husband, Robert of Moodus, CT, two stepdaughters, Catherine Rodrigues of Fogo, Cape Verde Island, Maria Barros of Roxbury, MA, eight grandchildren, Robert, Michael, Manuel Jr., Taylor, Cameron, Ethan, Paul and Amanda, two step grandchildren, Shannon and Caitlin, one great grandchild, Bryce and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Eduardo Vieira and grandchildren, Tony and Sandra Barros. Arrangements: Her funeral will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
