He was predeceased by: his sister Shirley Goodwin. He is survived by: his children, Jessica Byrd, Javon Byrd and James Goodwin, Jr.; his grandchildren, Damar, Jayden, Courtney, Jasmine, James, Cardell, Shamar and Danielle-Rose; and his siblings, Robert Goodwin, Priscilla Goodwin and Madelyn Goodwin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
