He is survived by: his son Alan (Donna) of Newtown; his sisters, Edith Johnson and Helen Leary; and his grandchildren, Christopher Chapin of California, Corrie Duncan of New Milford, Colby Chapin of North Carolina, Leah Sivick of Washington and Brett Chapin of Redding, Connecticut..
