He is survived by: his wife Karen Sammis Matheson; his siblings, Curt Matheson (Rosemary), Al Matheson (Pat) and Karen Matheson (Kathy Lepp); his daughters, Amy Fougerouse (Flo) and Julie Gills (Billy); his grandchildren, Will Fougerouse, Kate Fougerouse and Emily Fougerouse; his brother-in-law Neil Sammis (Lynne Aldrich); his nieces and nephews, Kelly, Jamie, Mackenzie, Robert, Scott and Eric; and his friends, Europe, Africa, South America and Mexico.
