He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward George and Violet Martha Kowalski (Kovacs). He is survived by: his wife Virginia Lee Kowalski (Martin) of Southbury; his daughters, Lynn Marie Thornton (Rod) of Barrington, Michelle Lee Brachten (Joerg) of Huntersville and Sherye Ann Stockmal (late Steven) of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Britney Thornton-Homco (Keith), Ethan Thornton, KassieStockmal, Bryce Brachten and Jonathan Brachten; his great grandchild Eva Thornton-Homco; his brothers, Thomas Martin Kowalski (Nancy) and Edward George Kowalski; and his siblings' children, Sarah Lichorowiec (Sean) and Thomas Kowalski.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Daily Chapel of Sacred Heart Church (910 Main St S, Southbury, CT 06488). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, December 20th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Church (910 Main St S, Southbury, CT 06488).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James's memory, in honor of his deep faith and commitment to the Catholic Church, to The Mustard Seed Fund, 910 Main Street South, Southbury, Connecticut.
