She was predeceased by: her mother Ann Mercer; her sister-in-law Holly Mercer; and her father-in-law Dominic Costanzo. She is survived by: her father Lester Mercer; her husband Dino Costanzo; her children, Katie Burton (Aaron) and Nicholas Costanzo (Kathryn); her grandchildren, Jack, Samuel, Evelyn Burton, Isabella, Amelia, Elena and Nicholas Costanzo II; her siblings, Mike Mercer, Barb Hartung (Dan), Pat Boudreau (Mark), Jan Strelez (Rob), Paul Mercer (Laurie), Mary Caldwell (Tom) and Joe Mercer (Mary); her mother-in-law Laura Costanzo; and her brothers-in-law, John Costanzo (Carol), Vince Costanzo (Karen), Dominic Costanzo (Linda), Tony Costanzo (Margaret), Paul Costanzo (Cyndi) and Steven Costanzo (Carol). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Susan's name may be made to Hartford Healthcare Cancer Institute at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, where she received skilled and compassionate care for many years.
