With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Carmen I. Pena of Newington, Connecticut, who passed away on May 9, 2026 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let her loved ones carry forward the torch of her memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of her love and the brilliance of her spirit. Though Carmen may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, her essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Gumercindo Hernandez and Belen Hernandez (Betancourth); and her daughter Hilcias Merari Pena. She is survived by: her children, Joel Pena, Elias Pena, Miguel Pena, Jr. and Miriam Quinonez; and her sister Aracelis Hernandez. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the La Primera Iglesia (45 Oliver St, Hartford, CT 06106). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home (1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT 06109).
