He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Gant and Mary Gant; his siblings, Barbara "Butterfly" McKissick and Ralph Gant; and his nephew Halland McKissick.
He is survived by: his wife Arlene; and his siblings, Margo Robinson Parker (Bernard), Lance Robinson, Phillip Gant, Priscilla Foreman and Deborah Streams. He is also survived by five nieces; one nephew; three great-nieces; five great-nephews; one great-great niece.
