He was predeceased by: his parents, Linus Surprenant and Maxine Surprenant; his siblings, Jerome Surprenant and Jinger Surprenant; his brother-in-law Phil Holman; and his parents-in-law, Paul and Evelyn Kutch.

He is survived by: his sons, James Surprenant and Ray Surprenant; his pet Maxine; and his siblings, Judy, Jan, JoAnn, Joyce and Jack. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
