He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Sr. (Buttons) and Helen Carson Edwards; and his siblings, Brenda Dixon and Charles Edwards. He is survived by: his wife Faye; his children, James Edwards and Jill Alfree (Lee); and his grandson Troy Alfree.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Middletown Volunteer Hose Company, 27 W. Green St. Middletown, DE 19709 or Compassionate Care Hospice, 20165 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
