He is survived by: his sons, Joshua D. Thompson (Tracey) of Camden and Thomas J. Thompson of Felton; his mother Mary Sue Thawley of Dover; his brother David W. Thompson (Terri) of Magnolia; his grandson Devyn Thompson; and his sibling's children, Christopher Thompson and Melanie Busser.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Special Olympics, 619 S. College Avenue, Newark, DE 19716.
