She was predeceased by : her parents, Samuel Elmer and Helen Elizabeth Melson (Benson); her husband George Edward Swain, Jr.; and her brothers, Benson Walter Melson and Franklin Elmer Melson, Sr..

She is survived by : her nephews, Franklin E. Melson, Jr. (Diane), Richard Cecil Melson (late Janice) and Samuel Mark Melson (Fannie). She is also survived by three grand-nieces; four grand-nephews; six great-grand-nieces; and two great-grand-nephews.
