Smits, Jr.; her siblings, Marge Cornacchio and Richard Slivocka; her family, Donna Smits, Kelli Schlitt, Diane, Bob Lein, Jenna Lein (Robert Rudolph), Bryan Lein (Christine Forest), Nick Lein (Jacob Baldwin), Laurie, Dave Bockhaus, Lacey Bockhaus, Derek and Declan Rudolph; her son David Francis Smits; and her granddaughter Jillian Robyn Lein.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Catherine of Siena Church (2505 Centerville Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808). A Mass was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in honor of Joan to St. Vincent de Paul Society, care of St. Catherine of Siena, at the above address.
