He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Starling and Evelyn Starling (Sweat). He is survived by: his wife Casey Starling of Glen St; his children, Lanice "Gene" Starling Jr. (Brandy) of Macclenny, Madison Jones of Taylor, Crystal Dawkins (Mark) of High Springs and Jennifer Kish of Taylor; and his siblings, Gerald Starling (Minnie), Vanice Starling (Donna), Wyman Manning (Debbie) and Rose Wells (Danny). He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
