She was predeceased by: her parents, Ewell Carter and Louise Carter; her husband Sam Hughes; and her siblings, Robert Carter, Vonnie Freel, Joyce Smith and Sharon Painter.
She is survived by: her daughters, Vicki Gable (David) and Jan McDonald (Phillip); her grandchildren, Morgan Hamilton (Braxton), Jensen Jones (Blake), Kirstin Badalamento (Justin), Justin Gable (Katie) and Dylan McDonald (Bridgette); her great grandchildren, Chayten, Everly, Jovie, Abbijane, Tyce, Evan and Sam; and her sister Wynette Nelson (Scott). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home (11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223).
