He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Frank Gubernot and Esther Gubernot; his spouse Jean Serkas; his daughters, Renee Montgomery (Charles), Rita Lampus, Rhonda Heilman (Jeffrey) and Robin Pitura (Joseph); and his grandchildren, Carl, Curt, Sarah, Michael, Kathryn, Scott, Marie, Claire, Bethany, Neeley, Mike and John. He was also cherished by his children and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
