He was predeceased by : his parents, Sylas Burkett and Ruth Patrick Burkett; his wife Mabel Jo Burkett; his stepchildren, Lynn and John Burkett; and his sister O'Dwaine Whipple.

He is survived by : his daughters-in-law, Janet Matthews (Charlie) and Kathy Arvonio (Ed); his grandchildren, Amy Cryderman, Jamie and John Burkett; his great grandchildren, Lexis, Gavin, Jason, Tyler, Madison and Brynslee; and his sister Martha Sherman.
