For Burgess is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Burgess Thaxton and Wynoa Thaxton; and his granddaughter Amy Clemons. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Sue Thaxton; his children, Tammy Gene Gill (Ronnie) and Michael Eugene Thaxton; and his grandchildren, Robert, Christopher, Monica, Rose, John Michael and Andrew. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Pioneer Baptist Church Cemetery (486 Beechwood Dr, Crawfordville, FL 32327). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Tallahassee National Cemetery (5015 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32311).
