He is survived by: his wife Irene Sheffield-Byrd; his children, James Edward McDonald, Amy Farrior and Edith Campbell; his close friend Racine Rouse; his children, Willie Charles Thompson, Timothy Sheffield, Darwin Bragman, Donnie Sheffield, Brenda Thompson, Janice Thompson, Vanessa Tucker, Katherine Smiley and Antionette Bridges; his siblings, William, David Byrd, Luke Byrd, Leroy Blunt, Amanda Byrd, Madlock, Sarah Byrd and Mary Moody; his sister-in-law Myrtle Brantley; and also Bertha Mae Clax.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Beulah Baptist Church (109 Mc Griff St NE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32549). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 24th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, May 24th 2025 at the Beal Memorial Cemetery (316 Beal Pkwy NW, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548).
