He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Newsome and Emily Newsome; his brother Donald Newsome; his brother-in-law James Mowrey (Amanda); his nephew Michael Velcheck; and his son-in-law Steve Taylor.

He is survived by: his children, Holly Taylor, Douglas Newsome (Denise), David Newsome, Lori Kennedy (Charles), Mary Potochnik (Robert), Bradley Newsome (Randa), Stuart Newsome (Lisa) and William O'Leary; his sister Jill (Glenn Crouch); his sister-in-law Lois Velcheck (Bob); and his grandsons, Ryan, Brandon, Brett, Jason Taylor, Chris Kennedy, Scott, Austin Potochnik and Baylor Newsome. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
