Hazel Hawkins Taylor Markham Obituary
We are sad to announce that on May 6, 2018, at the age of 86, Hazel Hawkins Taylor Markham (Fleming Island, Florida) passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Hazel Hawkins Taylor Markham to pay them a last tribute.
She was born in DeFuniak Springs, Florida on August 5, 1931 to the late Howard Douglas "H.D. Hawkins, Sr. and Anna Bell Godwin Hawkins. Hazel lived all her married life in the Taylor community. She was employed by the Baker County School Board, first as a Bus Driver and later as a Library Clerk at the Baker County High School until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Taylor Church for many years and organized a small library at the church. Hazel enjoyed traveling, fishing, reading, and gardening, but most of all, she loved her family. In 2008, Hazel was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and as this disease took its toll, she never lost her spirit of happiness. Her beautiful smile would always light up a room. Hazel is predeceased by her parents; her loving husband of 46 years, Warren Taylor, Jr. and her husband of 2 years, Tiny Markham; and her two brothers, Howard and Charles Hawkins. Hazel is survived by her son, William Ronald Taylor of Taylor, FL; her daughter, Roxana (Chris) Bush of Fleming Island, FL; four grandchildren, Adam (Myya) Bush of Orlando, FL, Alison (Justin) Wenzel of Nashville, TN, John Taylor and Stephen Taylor both of Taylor, FL; and 2 great grandchildren, Calla and Casey Wenzel. A Celebration of Hazel's Life will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at Taylor Church with Pastor Mark Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Taylor Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to help complete construction on the new Penney Retirement Community Nursing Care Home, penneyretirementcommunity.org or the Alzheimer's Association, alz.org.
