He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Hunt Cook and Stacie Strickland Cook; his daughter Melissa Kay Cook; and his siblings, MaryLou Cook Gilligan, Robert H. Cook and Bettye Sue Cook.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy; and his granddaughters, Leah Van Halsema, Emma Van Halsema, Elizabeth Van Halsema and Holly Van Halsema.
A funeral service was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Falowski Kalis Mcintee Funeral and Cremation Services (900 NW 5th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in John's memory to the Humane Society of Broward County, honoring his love for animals.
