He was predeceased by: his parents, Hyman Shapiro and Mildred Shapiro; his brother Alan Shapiro; his former wife Carol Resnick Shapiro; and his brother-in-law Paul Burke.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Shapiro; his children, Julie Arzonico (Jay), Melissa Allen (Brad), Rachel Herwood (Dave) and David Shapiro (Ryan); his grandchildren, Marley, William Arzonico, Sarah, Audrey Allen, Conner, Charley Herwood, Hunter and Logan Shapiro; his sister Beth Shapiro; his siblings-in-law, Harriet Burke and Ronald Resnick (Iris); and his sibling's children, Michael Burke, Molly Burke, Nick Gilbert, Matthew Resnick, Lauren Colon and Stefanie Armstrong.

Memorial contributions may be made to Penn State Nittany Lion Club – Levi Lamb Fund or the Cleveland Clinic.
