She is survived by: her husband Brian Armstrong; her children, Cole Ellis Armstrong and Reese Iliana Armstrong; her mother Alicia Figueroa Akins; her brother George Akins; her sister-in-law Amy Taylor Akins; and her sibling's children, Corrine and Kenneth Akins. She is also survived by extended family and lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Serena's memory to Saint Peter Catholic Church in Mary Esther, Florida or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
