He was predeceased by: his parents, Loren Sweat and Commey Trowell Sweat; his sons, Wayne Thomas and Glenn Oren Sweat; and his son-in-law William Powers.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Smith Sweat; and his children, Ernest Sweat (Gracie), Alex Loren Sweat, Jr., Connie Powers, Pam Murphy (Roger), Loren Thomas, Linda Baumuller (Glenn), David Thomas (Angel), Danny Thomas (Ellie), Zelda Thomas and Dustin Sweat. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
