He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert P. Luther and Angeline Castagna; his brother Donald C. Luther; his sons, Robert J. Luther and John Edward Luther; and his grandchild Ryan Jay Cook.

He is survived by: his wife Mary F. Luther; his children, Theresa Luther Pearson, Bree L. Luther and Lisa Cook; his sisters, Geri Cole, Carolyn Pulver, Susie Przybylski, Connie Luther and Becky Wiswell; and his grandchildren, Kevin Michael Silli, Kristen Marie Egger, Lauren Silli Garlock, Marshall Robert Egger and Logan Reid Cook. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
