He was predeceased by: his parents, Maude Wilmeth (Warren) and Kenneth C. Rankin Sr.; his sons, Kenneth C. Rankin III and Warren Lee Rankin; his wife Virginia Lee Stephens; and his brother Leonard Earl Rankin.

He is survived by: his children, Lou Ellen Rankin and Ken. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
