He was predeceased by : his parents, David Cottrell Sewell Jr. and Vesta Ely Sewell; his daughter Elizabeth; and his siblings, Marietta Varner, David Cottrell Sewell II (DC), Winston Sewell, George Sewell and Vivian McCall.

He is survived by : his wife Carolyn Withrow.
