He was predeceased by: his wife Earlean Ellis; his sons, Joe Nathan Ellis Jr. and Mark Anthony Ellis Sr.; and his father Chester. He is survived by: his daughter Angie Ellis-Austin (Austin); his son-in-law Charles Austin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his grandchildren, Marlana Ellis, Kendra Ellis, Mark A. Ellis Jr., Kimberly Ellis, Maggie Ellis, Candice Ellis-Flowers and Jasmine Ellis; and his stepmother Ida Wigfall (Maggie Ellis) of South Bend, IN. He is also survived by other relatives and friends including brothers.
