He was predeceased by: his mother Andrea Neill; and his brother Kevin. He is survived by: his father Joseph Tanghare; his stepmother Patricia Tanghare; his siblings, Tracey (Terry), Jody and Trevor; and his siblings' children, Christine, Kaitlyn, Jody, Haley, Yana, Yalana and Andrew.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shawn's name to Dogs and Cats Forever, a no-kill shelter in Fort Pierce, Florida—an organization that reflects his lifelong love of animals.
