He was predeceased by: his parents, Stefan Szybalski and Michalina Szybalska; his brother Wacław Szybalski; and his cousins, Teresa Rakowska-Harmstone and Wacław Królikowski.
He is survived by: his former wife Louise Hackbarth; his daughter Eva Szybalski; his wife Julienne Próchnicki; and his sons, Christopher Gehricke and Steven Gehricke.
