She was predeceased by: her parents, Quincy Smith and Rita Smith; her parents-in-law, Gordon and Addie "Bill" Whitehead of Morehead City, NC; her brother-in-law James W. Stallings of Kinston, NC; her sister Phyllis; and her brother-in-law Dave Whereatt of Newport, NC..
She is survived by: her husband John Gordon Whitehead, Jr. of St. Cloud, FL; her daughter Carla Whitehead Moore (Robert Shorback) of Kissimmee, FL; and her granddaughter Abagail Ann Moore of Poinciana, FL.. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
As the pandemic unfolded, she developed an even closer connection with her sisters by phone comparing "notes" of their different situations and locations.
