He was predeceased by: his parents, Alphonso Payne and Dora Payne; and his brother James A. Payne. He is survived by: his former wife Betty L. Hurd; his wife Rita Payne; his children, William Payne, Cynthia Abbott (Mike) and Ricky Payne; his grandchildren, Jeremy (Kella), Jesse Mathews (Gemma), Brandi Payne and Michael LaGrave; his great grandchildren, Brianna, Jennifer, Ethan, Zachary and Juliet; and his great great grandchildren, Evelyn and Eliana.
