He was predeceased by : his parent Alonza Merritt. He is survived by : his mother Clara Mae Merritt (Brown); his siblings, Henry Merritt, Glenn Campbell, Beverly Campbell, Stephanie Merritt, Alisia Ash and Merri Campbell; his grandchildren, Adriauna Carter and Alyea Cox; and his uncles, Rosea McRea, Marion Kent-Davis, Theodore Wilson and Warren Howard. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Alanza can be sent for the support of his daughter, Ashely c/o Brenda Merritt, 625 Magnolia Avenue, Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
