He was predeceased by : his parents, Nathan D. Parsons, Sr. and Marie Arnold Parsons; his former life partner Enid Parsons; his sons, Richard and Timothy James; and his sisters, Grace and Patsy.

He is survived by : his wife Shirley A. Parsons; his daughter Mary Lamb; his stepchildren, Diane Davis and Timothy Bogan; his sister Francis Henderson; and his granddaughters, Jennifer and Joy. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
