He was predeceased by: his brother Paul Kumpitsch Jr.. He is survived by: his parents, Paul Kumpitsch Sr. and Florence Kumpitsch; his sons, Wayne Kumpitsch of Danville, John Kumpitsch of Lompoc and Glenn Kumpitsch of Waterford; and his grandchildren, Carlton Burk of Old Lyme and Colby Eastwood of Groton.

Donations on his behalf may be made to the Waterford-East Lyme Shellfish Commission.
