Meertens; his daughters, Nicola Rodney (Gary), Tiffany Checkley (Phillip), Colleen Branche (Ron) and Stephane Duroseau (Patrick); his daughter-in-law Sylvanna Hayling; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Trevon, Alexe Hayling, Shauntaye Findlay, Myles, Gabrielle Rodney, Tyeler, Taylor, Tyrah Checkley, Isabelle, Morgan, Kennedy Branche, Leila and Preston Duroseau.
He is survived by: his siblings, Godfrey Meertens (Mignon), Mark Meertens, Rita Hillocks, Verna Jones and Brenda Spears. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
