He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivor Meertens and Una Meertens; his son Trevor Hayling; his wife Gloria P. Meertens; his daughters, Nicola Rodney (Gary), Tiffany Checkley (Phillip), Colleen Branche (Ron) and Stephane Duroseau (Patrick); his daughter-in-law Sylvanna Hayling; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Trevon, Alexe Hayling, Shauntaye Findlay, Myles, Gabrielle Rodney, Tyeler, Taylor, Tyrah Checkley, Isabelle, Morgan, Kennedy Branche, Leila and Preston Duroseau.
He is survived by: his siblings, Godfrey Meertens (Mignon), Mark Meertens, Rita Hillocks, Verna Jones and Brenda Spears. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Terrace Oaks Chapel (12690 N 56th St, Temple Terrace, FL 33617). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 30th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
