He was predeceased by: his parents, Burgess Thaxton and Wynoa Thaxton; and his granddaughter Amy Clemons. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Sue Thaxton; his children, Tammy Gene Gill (Ronnie) and Michael Eugene Thaxton; and his grandchildren, Robert, Christopher, John, Monica, Rose and Andrew. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Tallahassee National Cemetery (5015 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32311).
