He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifton Van Brunt Lewis and George Lewis II; his wife Mary Ann Giles Lewis; and his brother William Van Brunt Lewis. He is survived by: his children, Mary Byrd Lewis Sims (Ramsay), Anne Cameron Lewis Barton (late William) and George Lewis III (Sarah); his grandchildren, Melissa Byrd Sims, Virginia Holland "Holly" Sims, Isabella Collins Barton, Stella Mae Lewis and Clifton Wren Lewis; and his brothers, Clifton Byrd Lewis Mashburn and Benjamin Bridges Lewis.
