He was predeceased by : his parents, J. L. Nelson and Rosa Lee Nelson; and his brother Anthony Nelson. He is survived by : his wife Jennifer Conway Nelson; his children, Jerald L. Nelson, Jr. and Chauncey C. Nelson; his grandchildren, Anquette D. Nelson, Jacob Benjamin, Chaneese Nelson, Jada Benjamin, Jerald Nelson III and Jordan Wilder; and his aunts and uncles, Dorise Jackson, Evelyn Wynn, Shirley Kohn, Juanita Rogers, Eddie Rogers and Clarence "Luke" Nelson, Sr.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
