It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Margaret Diane Mathews of Tampa, Florida, born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, who passed away on April 22, 2021, at the age of 64, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Virginia Rhea Gattinger and Lawrence Glenn Mathews, Sr.; and her brother Lawrence Glenn Mathews, Jr.. She is survived by: her husband Scott Ilgenfritz; her grandchildren, Ginny and Henry; her children, Arlyn Gilmore (Kirk) and Carter Ilgenfritz; and her siblings, Arlyn Mathews Hawley (Al), Sue Gattinger Farris (Cole) and David Gattinger (Kathy). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

We met many years ago when Margaret first started representing admiralty law clients. She was a great advocate for the pilots and played an integral part in the development of the piloting statutes. Margaret became a lifelong friend of ours. My sincere condolences to Scott and her family for their loss. They are in our thoughts and prayers.”
