He was predeceased by: his parents, Sigurd Bergesen and Irene Bergesen (Niese); his wife Janet; and his daughter-in-law Barbara. He is survived by: his children, Brad Bergesen of Triangle, VA, Sharon Jenkins of Triangle, VA and Karen Munoz; his grandchildren, Jennifer Collins (Donnie Collins), Branden Bergesen, Bryan Bergesen, Brittany Mulligan (Sean Mulligan), Rachael Jenkins and Ryan Jenkins; his great grandchildren, Blake Collins, Brooke Collins, Brielle Collins, Ella Bergesen, Jaxson Mulligan and Alayah Jenkins-Neal; and his great great grandchild Olivia Collins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home -Carrollwood (3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618). A rosary will be held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (32825 Rhode Island Ave, San Antonio, FL 33576). The military honors will be held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rick's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
