She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Albert Sammis and Anna Sammis; her friends, Mimi Taylor and Barbara Grignon; her brother Walter Sammis of Huntington, NY; her daughter Jodi Schmalried (Greg) of Vero Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Christie Tostevin (Shelby) of St. Augustine, FL, Jessica Kay (Scott) of Chesapeake, VA and Christopher Simon, Jr. (Julia); her great grandchildren, Mikala, Isabella (The Dolly Sisters), Tyley, Tyler, Zoe and Chelsea; her former life partner George Halligan; and her husband William Michta.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Fisher Center of Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
