He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph, Sr. Mathis and Edith Mathis (Sherhouse). He is survived by: his wife Glynda; his daughter Lisa Marie Mathis (Josh); and his siblings, Hayward Mathis (Trena), Laverne Schneider and Mary Helen Hatch. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
