He was predeceased by: his wife Martha Ballis Mathis; his parents, Fred Christian and Ola Watson Mathis; and his sister Frances Mathis Riegel. He is survived by: his daughters, Elizabeth Ann Mathis and Christine Mathis Baum (David Ashby Baum); his grandchildren, Gentry Baum Kozub (Matthew Charles Kozub), Ashby Mathis Baum and Christian Davis Baum; and his great grandchildren, Thomas Charles Kozub and Patrick Davis Kozub.
