He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Loraine Johnson Whitley; his parents, Charles Alvin Whitley and Mary Frances Smith Whitley; his brother Richard Whitley; his stepdaughter Janet Edmonson; his children, Shane Whitley (Doris) of Carnesville, GA and James Butler (Melanie) of Gillsville; his stepchildren, Joyce Childers and Jackie Collins (Brian); and his siblings, George Alvin Whitley of Canton, GA and Lynn Cain of Danielsville. He was also cherished by 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
