He was predeceased by: his parents, Eloise B. Edwards and Jeff Johnson; his brother Herman Bennett; and his grandson Gavin Christopher. He is survived by: his wife Betty Gilmore of Hopkins, SC; his children, Jerneal Alston of Columbia, SC, Destiny Smith of Atlanta, Quan (Daugherty) of Atlanta, Precious Gilmore of Atlanta, Cory Gilmore (Veronica), Charles Travis Gilmore, Gernard Gilmore Jr. and Nicholas Pressley (Shannom Byrd); his siblings, Ernestine Huges of Atlanta, Marvin Gilmore (Bertha) of Clayton, NC, Rudolph Chavis (Denise) of Atlanta and William Gilmore (Mary); and his aunt Erlene Henry of Hopkins. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; and one great-grandson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews family and friends.
