It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Theresa Matthews Brooks of Augusta, Georgia, who passed away on March 9, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar L. Matthews and Sarah Crump-Matthews (Sadie); and her siblings, Laura M. Marshall, Robert A. Matthews, Thomas M. Matthews, Ann M. Olds, Edgar L. Matthews, Sadie M. Gray and Shelly M. Porter.

She is survived by: her children, Rita E. Tyson, Carol A. Brooks, Judy E. Marsh and Mason C. Brooks III (Sylvia M. Brooks); and her grandchildren, Kimberly Tyson, Margaret Tyson, Joshua Tyson, Matthew Brooks, Laura Anderson, Mason Brooks IV and Hudson Brooks. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Rest easy, Mom, we love you!!In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make donations to St. Jude Children's hospital in Theresa's honor.
